In 1987 God called Rev. Ismael Esmalla to start a home Bible Study in Sunnyvale Ca and later residing in in San Jose starting with 18 in attendance
The name was changed to Light Bearer’s Fellowship Church in 2002.
A few years after, in 2005, Pastor Esmalla departed to be with the Lord.
A year later, 2006 the church name was changed to Light Bearers Fellowship Church. Matthew 5:16 became the church’s central verse.
LBFC formally made a partnership with Alum Rock Covenant from 2007 and many years later.
Three of LBFC’s young members started school at Doane Baptist Seminary School in 2012.
By 2013, The Association of Light Bearers Fellowship Ministries Philippines Incorporated was approved by the Security and Exchange Commission to legally operate its churches and ministries.
The church moved back to Alum Rock in 2016 with a central message “RISE- relate invite share embrace.
From San Jose to East Bay, the church moved to Bay Area Baptist church one year later in 2017 with the central message Standing TALL.
Last year, in 2018, the church then again moved to Berryessa Valley church temporarily and now at East Valley Church with the central theme “REFRESH”
Today in 2019
Throughout the years since 1987, not only did the church grow in numbers but the church continued to grow faithfully in loving God, loving others, and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ that impact relationships locally and globally.
LBFC planted 12 churches in the Philippines, numerous missions, medical missions, and evangelisms took place in several countries including the U.S., many were baptized, took leadership roles, and numerous ministries emerged.
So here we are today, 2019, standing strong for 32 years and you can see God was always present. Please continue to pray for our church.
